I hate when my Macbook camera dies…
Last night we went to see the New York Red Bulls play the San Jose Earthquake. Also, there was a torrential downpour. The fun part is that we were sitting in the fan section underneath the cover of the overhang. So, we could see the players waddling around on the wet muddy field, and were perfectly dry. The other great thing about the fan section is all the yelling and chanting and obscenities. We also brushed up on our Spanish: “Vamos Red Bulls, esta noche tenemos que ganar!” Which means, let’s go Red Bulls, tonight we have to win. My favorite chant involved screaming really loudly before the opposing goalie kicked a goal kick, and then as soon as his foot made contact with the ball everyone yelled “You suck, (insert anatomic expletive).” Oh the joys of soccer and its ability to propagate blind regional fanaticism. Finally, there was face paint and french fries. What else could a guy ask for? Oh yeah, season tickets.
